HAIRESS featuring Angel Hair Braids was opened under the exact vision and mission as Angel Hair Braids of Beverly Hills. Hairess (pronounced Heiress), was named as a reflection of the founder's vision for her three daughters to take over her salon. In 1980, founder Priscilla transformed her childhood passion and talent into a lifelong profession; one that she would later pass on to her three daughters under meticulous supervision. Since its inception, Angel Hair Braids has serviced over 20,000 heads, many of which have become not only treasured clients, but very close family and friends. With a “clients always come first” approach, the team at Angel Hair Braids has been successful with an incredible client retention rate. These solid operations led them to a new journey in 2011.

In Feb 2011, the youngest of the three daughters decided to expand the family owned business to Las Vegas, Nevada. Little did she know, it would not be as easy as she had originally anticipated. Soon after the planning of the second location began, the family learned that the licensing requirements for braiders were very different from the current laws in California. Contrary to California, Nevada had required you to be a licensed Cosmetologist in order to practice the art of braiding. This was more than an impediment for the family; it was more like a dream deferred. Curprice was determined that the laws were unfair considering that the majority of what is taught in the average cosmetology school does not encompass braiding. As a result, she carefully researched the laws starting with a phone call to the Nevada legislature. By late morning, she'd managed to schedule an appointment with Senator Joe Hardy. She and her husband Ryan jumped in the car and drove a lengthy nine hour drive to Carson City, Nevada. With the aid of attorney John Rutledge, she pleaded her case of why braiders should not be required to follow such stringent licensing. Fortunately, Senator Hardy understood, agreed, and placed her in touch with Vincent Jimno, Executive Director of Cosmetology in the State of Nevada, as well as Nevada's renowned Lobbyist, Jeanette Belz. Curprice then plead her same case, and fortunately for all, they also understood and supported her efforts. For the next four months, Curprice flew back and forth to Carson City meeting with multiple legislators and testified in front of state legislative committees on behalf of braiders all over. Surprisingly, she even became a lobbyist during this time. This idea to expand Angel Hair Braids had quickly turned into a highly controversial battle. Of all the non-profit organizations founded, even the NAACP was against the movement to allow braiders to practice legitimately under lesser licensing. With Ms. Belz' leadership, Curprice remained determined, and on June 17, 2011, those joint efforts, the undeniable support, and extreme stress, paid off! Governor Sandoval signed a Bill into law requiring that braiders be mandated to attend 250 hours of school to obtain a braiding license, rather than the previously required 1200 for a Cosmetology license.
